So how are you doing working toward your goal? At the Blair Regional YMCA, we always feel that now is a great time to check in with yourself to be sure you are on track. It’s also a great time to try something new to be sure you can keep your routine fresh and maintain your motivation.
𝐓𝐢𝐩𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐆𝐨𝐚𝐥𝐬
We want you to be successful in reaching your goals. Here are a few tips for getting there:
𝐇𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜 𝐠𝐨𝐚𝐥𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬.
This is key. Give yourself the time you need to accomplish your goals without rushing your body. This will help prevent injury and setbacks.
𝐖𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐢𝐭 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐝𝐨𝐰𝐧.
The intentionality of committing something to writing helps your focus and keeps you moving toward success. If you need extra motivation, write your goal on a sticky note and place it where you can see it each morning.
𝐂𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬.
Having a healthy reward system for meeting goals is crucial to staying on track. You should not deny yourself everything all day, every day.
𝐋𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐧 𝐭𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐛𝐨𝐝𝐲.
You know yourself best. If you need to lighten up a workout, do so. If your body needs rest, take a day and recommit the next day. Being in tune with how you feel will help protect you from injuries and ensure you stay healthy for the long haul.
𝐀𝐬𝐤 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐩.
If you aren’t sure how to get started, seek out capable friends, family, or experts. If you need an accountability partner, confide in a trusted friend and set regular check-in dates. If you are motivated by games or apps, buy a wearable device or download an app that track your progress. Whatever you need to be successful, seek it out.
If you’re truly unsure where to begin, don’t worry. The Y can help. Our staff are trained to help you identify realistic goals, break down barriers to your success and cheer you on along the way.
