The BLAIR REGIONAL YMCA Financial Assistance Policy declares that no qualified individual will be denied access or participation due to the inability to pay established fees. Assistance is offered through our Scholarship Program based on the participant’s inability to pay and the YMCA’s ability to fund the subsidy.
The Y has always offered financial assistance to those who qualify. Eligibility is determined according to federal poverty guidelines. Scholarship eligibility may also be extended to those who are financially strapped due to extenuating circumstances. For example, many in our community, especially families with children, don’t meet federal poverty guidelines, yet still can’t afford a membership due to the high cost of living.
Guided by the principles of our Mission, we believe that a strong sense of ownership and pride is developed when a person contributes to the cost of their YMCA involvement. It is with this in mind that we recommend a sliding fee scale.
The BLAIR REGIONAL YMCA Scholarship Program provides a sliding fee scale designed for those whose gross annual income is less than $50,000. The participant’s contribution toward membership cost is based on total household income and the number of dependents in the household.
*All membership categories are subject to a $39.00 Association Fee due at the time of enrollment
One or two adults and any dependent children under the age of 22 years residing in the same household and/or children under the age of 24 if they are attending college
Any two individuals that want to share a membership
62 years of age and older
Individuals 22 years of age and older, upon graduation from formal education
19 – 29 years of age

BLAIR REGIONAL YMCA is a not-for-profit health and human service organization committed to helping people grow in spirit, mind, and body. YMCAs are here to serve people of all ages, backgrounds, abilities, and income levels. The Y is community-based. We believe that our programs and services should be available to everyone. Therefore, we offer a scholarship program with a sliding fee scale designed to fit each individual or family’s financial situation.
Participants in our scholarship program receive the same membership and program benefits as all other YMCA members and program participants.
Over the years, the Y has found that our scholarship program is most often utilized by:
-Adults temporarily out of work
-Heads of households experiencing financial hardship
-People on fixed incomes
-People overwhelmed by medical bills
-People facing extenuating circumstances
The BLAIR REGIONAL YMCA Scholarship Program is funded through the generous contributions of individuals and businesses in our community. Scholarships are granted for a specific period, usually 12 months. Our scholarship program is designed to reduce membership/program fees; it does not eliminate them.
The Y is a 501(c)3 charity – and one of the largest philanthropic organizations in the world. Every day, BLAIR REGIONAL YMCA offers affordable, quality programs and services designed to benefit people of all incomes and backgrounds. As an essential part of our community, the Y belongs to everyone regardless of income. This is why the Y offers financial assistance to qualifying individuals and families who cannot afford membership.
Communities are stronger when everyone feels valued.
We bring people together, inviting them to share their diverse perspectives and discover their shared passions.
