This course is designed to provide participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to be a lifeguard and professional rescuer.  This course presents skills needed in and around the water.  You must be 16 years of age to become a certified lifeguard. 

Upon successful completion, participants will receive the following certifications:
1.  Lifeguarding
2. CPR/AED for professionals
3. Emergency Oxygen Administration
4. Basic First Aid

In order to participate in our lifeguarding course, you must meet the following prerequisites:
1.  Must be age 16 by the first night of class
2.  Be able to tread water for 2 minutes (legs only)
3.  Swim 500 yards front crawl in 15 minutes
4.  Be proficient with sidestroke, breaststroke and elementary backstroke
5.  Feet first surface dive in 8-10 feet of water
6.  Swim underwater for 15 feet

Sessions will be held in February, May and August.

**There is no cost to those who agree to accept a lifeguard position with the Blair Regional YMCA and work for at least one year.

Basic Life Support is designed to teach CPR and AED rescue techniques for people of any age.  Instruction offers practice in lifesaving skills that may be an employer mandate, a regulatory requirement, or simply a personal goal.  Registration for BLS/CPR classes are currently open

Sessions will be held in February, May and August.
