Swimming Lessons

STRONG SWIMMERS MAKE CONFIDENT KIDS

No matter your age or ability, you can learn to swim at the Blair Regional YMCA. Our YMCA trained and certified instructors cover swimming skills, stroke technique and water safety in a friendly and encouraging environment. With small instructor to student ratio, our swim lessons provide personal instruction while providing a fun atmosphere.

   

PARENT/CHILD LESSONS 

Ages: 6-36 months  
Time: Tuesday/Thursday: 11:30AM - 12PM
          Saturday: 11:30AM - 12PM
Cost: $34/Members; $54/Public

This thirty-minute class takes place with parent and child in the water. You and your child will enjoy this class filled with songs, games and toys. Basic safety and swim skills such as kicking and blowing bubbles are part of this exciting program.   


TODDLER LESSONS

Ages: 2-3 years 
Time: Tuesday/Thursday: 11 - 11:30AM
          Saturday: 12:15 - 12:45PM
Cost: $37/Members; $57/Public

This 30 minute class is designed for those who have taken our parent/child class and are ready for the next step. Your child must be comfortable with the powerpacks and our instructors. Class ratio is 4:1.


PRESCHOOL LESSONS

Preschool classes are designed to build confidence and endurance, teach water safety, as well as water sports and games while allowing children to progress through the steps of learning how to swim. Children must be 3 years of age prior to enrolling. Student-instructor ratio is 6:1 for all levels.


PROGRESSIVE LESSONS

Progressive lessons will provide beginner water adjustment through advanced stroke development accompanied by skills in water safety, personal safety and an appreciation of water sports and games. Children must be 6 years of age prior to enrolling. Student-instructor ratio is 6:1.


ADULT/TEEN (Beginner & intermediate)

Ages: 13 & Up

Adult (20 & up) -  Tuesday/Thursday, 6:15-7AM
Teen (13-19) - Saturday, 10:15-11AM  
Cost: $40/Members; $65/Public

It is never too late to learn to swim, or if you are already a swimmer, to fine tune your strokes! This class provides a very relaxed, calm, lighthearted atmosphere in which we work at your pace. If you are apprehensive about being in water, we will work on skills that will gradually help you become comfortable in the pool. If it is stroke development you want to work on, we will show you drills to help you achieve a more efficient stroke. Minimum of 3 participants for class to be held.

HOME SCHOOL LESSONS            

One Half-hour Instruction
One Half-hour Open Swim

We offer weekly or monthly structured home school programs where students will learn stroke development, swimming and safety skills all while having fun. Please contact our Aquatics Director to schedule your group lessons. Minimum of 4 participants and maximum of 6 participants for beginner level lessons. Minimum of 4 participants and maximum of 8 participants for advanced level lessons.
